social.vanderbilt.edu – VU social media, all in one place

Posted by on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Launch.

Having trouble keeping up with all that’s going on at Vanderbilt? Heard of Twitter and Flickr but not sure what they are? Knee deep in social media but looking for a way to pull it all together?

A new website, get.social@vanderbilt, helps meet all of these needs by aggregating Vanderbilt’s main social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube as well as RSS feeds of Vanderbilt news and events into a central, easy-to-browse location.

“Social media is a great way to keep up with what is happening on campus and at the medical center,” Beth Fortune, vice chancellor of public affairs, said. “This site makes it that much easier to get a quick, up-to-the-minute view that our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends can use to interact with Vanderbilt.”

The website features the main university and Medical Center social media accounts, including the popular new 365@VU daily photo project, and links to many other social media accounts across campus. Visitors can also use the “Subscribe to Get Social” button in the site’s navigation to receive a daily email containing all of the Vanderbilt social media posts for the previous day.
