WP 101 Exercises – Before you start

These instructions assume you signed up for the WordPress 101 course and you were granted access to the WordPress test environment. If so, you should have received a link to this page.

1. Server information

Log into the WordPress test site using the URL below
Test Server:
http://wp-dev.its.vanderbilt.edu/wp101/
(use your VUnetID and ePassword to log in)

You may receive an error screen when logging in for the first time. Click the prompts to proceed to the site.

The network connection notes below are only for users connecting remotely. Go to step 2 if you are connected to the Vanderbilt network.

Network Connection Note
You will need to log into the WordPress sandbox using the Vanderbilt network or via Virtual Private Network (VPN). Vanderbilt IT has
setup instructions if you don’t have a VPN client and need to connect to the network remotely.

2. Complete the exercises
Go back to the WordPress Exercises page and complete the rest of the tasks. Skip down to the “After You’ve Received WordPress 101 Access” section.

3. Submit your work
Refer to the “Submit your work” section of the WordPress 101 exercises page for the submission instructions to have your work reviewed.

 

Training Course Information

These instructions are included in case someone finds this page and doesn’t know the training process. You will need to signup for the WordPress 101 course in the Learning Exchange before you will be granted access to the WordPress test environment.

The WordPress training process:

  1. Sign up for the WordPress 101 course on the Learning Exchange
  2. Watch the WordPress 101 course videos (takes ~30 min to watch all the videos)
  3. Follow the ticket submission instructions in the “Getting Started” section of the WordPress 101 Exercises  to request access to the test site.
  4. Log into the WordPress test environment and complete the WordPress 101 exercises (takes ~30 min to complete)
  5. Submit a ticket for your exercises to be reviewed. Include departmental website with a site contact information to verify your access included.
