Vanderbilt Initiative in Surgery and Engineering launches WordPress site

Posted by on Friday, November 18, 2011 in Launch.

The Vanderbilt Initiative in Surgery and Engineering  (ViSE) is an interdisciplinary, trans-institutional center whose mission is the creation, development, implementation, clinical evaluation and commercialization of methods, devices, algorithms, and systems designed to facilitate interventional processes and their outcome.

Or in simpler terms, Vanderbilt engineers and doctors are working together on some REALLY cool projects. This new initiative was established in the Fall of 2011 and one of the first orders of business was establishing a web presence. Almost all of the individual projects have their own websites, but there needed to be a central location that provides information about each of the projects and persons involved.

We built the ViSE website in WordPress, heavily using custom post types to organize the projects, publications and people sections.

I have to say – this has been one of my favorite projects in a while. ViSE is working on some truly innovative research projects, and the people involved have been a pleasure to work with. Special thanks to Dr. Benoit Dawant and Anna Allen for working hard alongside our office to get the site up and running within just a few short weeks.
