Inside ‘Dores and Vandy Bloggers using Vanderbilt WordPress theme

Posted by on Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Launch.

Partnering with the Undergraduate Admissions office, we updated two of their blogs with the Vanderbilt WordPress theme (blog version).

The two blogs are highlighted on the admissions homepage – as well as in the righthand column on each page of the admissions website. The Admissions Office uses these to provide a personal “mouthpiece” for Vanderbilt.

Inside ‘Dores

Inside ‘Dores is a blog that houses posts by current Vanderbilt students. The bloggers post about extracurricular activities, professors, classes, exams, campus life, etc.

We recently highlighted a post from Inside ‘Dores on the VU homepage: Vanderbilt junior Laura Pierce blogged about her last-minute Thanksgiving trip to Honduras (with the Manna Project at Vanderbilt.)

The Vandy Admissions Blog

Vandy Bloggers is the official blog of the Vanderbilt Undergraduate Admissions Office and several UAO staff members blog regularly there about anything and everything related to college admissions.

The bloggers attempt to “demystify” the admissions process — explaining exactly what happens when applications come before the admissions committee, givingĀ tips for alumni interviews, debunking the college ranking myths, etc. Nothing is off the table as a possible topic on this blog!

Prospective students often leave comments on posts – and they get a personal response from the admissions staff. It’s a wonderful way for UoA to interact with prospective students in a less formal way.
